>Promoting Independent Booksellers and Harry Potter!
By reusing code from a past project, we are providing BookSense.com with a cost-effective tool for putting a Harry Potter promotion on 250 participating independent bookstores websites. The project is intended to encourage pre-orders of the next book in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix through BookSense.com stores.
For each of the 21 days prior to the book release, trivia questions will appear on the sites that have chosen to embed the mini-site in their own website. The trivia tool reuses the work we did for a similar project related to the Lord of the Rings Two Towers launch last year. Reusing this work reduced the overall cost of the project allowing BookSense.com to improve on past ideas without overextending their budget.
As a marketing tool, projects like this are invaluable for driving traffic to retail websites. They bring potential customers back, increasing the likelihood of an impulse purchase and increasing brand awareness of the BookSense.com name or the specific bookseller site they visit. Because of OCI's intimate knowledge of the BookSense.com system, we were able to create a tool that integrates directly on member sites. This means that potential customers don't leave the site to find the day's trivia question or to participate in the contest, again further increasing their exposure to the site offerings.
