Mrs. Nelson's Toy and Book Shop is a BookSense.com bookseller who approached
OCI about taking their page design and integrating it with the BookSense.com
back end.
Independent retailers often face a conflict between what they would like to do and what they have the person-hours and financial resources to pursue.
In the case of Mrs. Nelson's, they had a page design and a specific vision for their site and simply lacked the expertise and time to make it happen on a reasonable budget.
As with any retail organization, Mrs. Nelson's wanted to provide content specifically targeted for their market. Unfortunately, customized tools usually bear a hefty price tag.
When you have somebody you trust to handle the details, it becomes possible to have a grand vision and hand it over to them for completion.
In the case of Mrs. Nelson's, they were familiar with OCI's work with BookSense.com and understood that we take the responsibility of turning our client's vision into a viable and productive solution very seriously.
It's almost always less expensive to use a foundation that already exists and adjust it to your current purposes than to start from scratch and 'reinvent the wheel' as it were.
For the custom tools Mrs. Nelson needed, OCI had already done similar projects and was able to adapt those solutions to meet their needs. This shortened the amount of time needed to produce the tools and reduced the overall cost.
Mrs. Nelson's now has a customized,
dynamic e-commerce site, which is flexible and easy to manage
without hiring specialized staff.
